Alexander W. DeMots

Alex DeMots is Of Counsel at the firm, specializing in campaign finance, ethics, lobbying, and nonprofit tax law. The firm's clients benefit in particular from his insights related to federal elections matters, gleaned from his experience as staff counsel to the chair of the Federal Election Commission. In that role, he reviewed agency staff recommendations regarding enforcement actions and advisory opinions, and helped to draft and implement regulations relating to political organizations, issue ads and other communications. Before working at the FEC, he was an associate at Lichtman, Trister & Ross, PLLC. Separately from his practice at the firm, Mr. DeMots serves as in-house counsel at the Center for American Progress.
